The Communications and Signal Processing (CSP) Group is headed by Prof. Abdelhak Zoubir and is affiliated with the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, at Curtin University of Technology Formerly Head of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Dr Zoubir is now a Research Professor with Curtin University of Technology and leads the Signal Processing Group at Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany. He was the General Co-chair of the 3rd IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology, Germany. He has been Technical Chairman, served on several technical committees, organized and chaired technical sessions at numerous international conferences. He is a member of the Technical Committee on Telecommunication of the International Association of Science & Technology for Development (IASTED) and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing. He is Senior Member of the IEEE, a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia and a Member of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Dr Zoubir has been funded since 1993 by the ARC through its Small, Large and Discovery Project Grant schemes. He also received continuing support from the DSTO and various other international organizations (DITAC, DSO (Singapore), Grant Darmstadt University of Technology).
Areas of Expertise
Research: Statistical methods for signal processing with applications in communications, sonar, radar, biomedical engineering and vibration analysis. Current research interest lies in bootstrap techniques for modelling non-stationary and non-Gaussian signals and for the design of robust detectors in the presence of impulsive interference.
