Abstract:
In this study, novel techniques for quantifying temporal structure and asymmetry in Poincaré plot of heart rate variability (HRV) signal have been developed.
1)Firstly, mathematical derivation of Complex Correlation Measure  to quantify temporal variability was proposed and validated with experimental data of autonomic perturbations.
2)Secondly, novel quantitative definition of heart rate asymmetry was proposed to better quantify the asymmetry in HRV signals.
3)Comparative performances of new measures have been presented with results under various examples of physiological and pathological conditions.
