Abstract:
Sliding Mode Control, also known as Variable Structure Control, is a high-speed switching feedback control. It is widely used in theoretical and applied aspects in the engineering field to design robust controllers, for both linear and nonlinear systems with system uncertainties and bounded input disturbances. In this seminar, I will present both the theory and application about the sliding mode control. In details, the key ideas about sliding mode control, Lyapunov stability theory and generic controller design process are addressed. Meanwhile, two different systems, i.e., the traditional electron-mechanical system and emerging networking system, are carefully chosen to highlight the high effectiveness and wide applications of sliding mode control.
